How To Handle Customer Parking When Having Your Parking Lot Paved

If your parking lot is currently made of dirt or gravel, or if it is old and needs to be completely repaved, then you might be looking forward to having it done. Having your parking lot paved is a great way to make it look great, but there is one thing that you might be concerned about while you're having this project done: where your customers will park while your parking lot is being paved. You obviously don't want to lose all of your customers while this project is in the works, and luckily, you don't have to. Follow these tips to provide customer parking in the meantime.

Have it Done in Phases

One great option is to have your parking lot paved in phases rather than having it done all at once. Although your parking area might look like a mess while it's being done, you can use signage, caution tape and traffic cones to keep the areas separated and let your customers know where to park. Then, when that area is being paved, you can move the parking to the area that has already been completed. This can cost you more in labor costs since the paving company will have to spend more time on the project, but it can be worth it because it's least disruptive to your business.

Talk to Nearby Business Owners

Are there any businesses located close to you that have ample parking? If so, consider talking to the business owners at these businesses to ask if you can encourage your customers to park in their parking lots while the project is being done. It shouldn't take long, and you'll still be able to make your customers happy. Just make sure that you use signs to direct your customers toward the right parking lot, and be willing to return the favor for your neighbor later on.

Offer Parking Validation

Although you might not typically prefer to offer parking validation services for area parking garages since you have your own parking area, it can be worth your while to offer it temporarily while your parking lot is being paved. Talk with the management for nearby parking garages to find out more.

As you can see, it's still possible to offer parking for your customers when you're having your parking lot paved. These are a few things that you can try to keep things going while you're making this improvement.

About Me

maintain your paved surfaces to avoid replacment costs

Paved driveways, sidewalks and patios can provide a sturdy and durable surface for many, many years if it is cared for properly. When a crack shows up, what do you do? When you get a pothole in the driveway, can you fix it? Is sealant absolutely necessary, and if so, how often? There is actually a lot that goes into maintaining a paved surface, but most of it is pretty easy to do yourself. I have created this blog so that people could learn how to care for their paved surfaces and avoid the expense of replacing the surfaces after they have been neglected for years.
